Monday 31th July

This morning we checked and washed the car. The rattling sound we heard yesterday appeared to be a broken pipe connected to the brakes in the rear. We sort of mended this and we have full confidence we can continue our adventure into China tomorrow.

This afternoon all cars were on display at a huge square here in Almaty. Lots of people came to have a look at all these old cars, including press. We did a lot of TV interviews, so by now Willem and I must be local celebrities.

In the evening the mayor of Almaty offered us a dinner party with some great music. Tomorrow morning we will leave for China! The start is at 7.00AM.
